Don’t get me wrong, computers today are less expensive then they ever where. The drop in price has a lot to do with Smart-phones. Smart-phones can do just about everything a computer can but in a small package and usually for a decent cost. All the power of the Smartphone comes at a cost: The Data Plan. During the life of the smart-phone your Data Plan payments will likely add up to much more then what you paid for the smart-phone itself. So if paying for a Data Plan every month isn’t for you, I’d suggest looking at Netbooks or WiFi only tablets.
Netbooks have fallen out of favor as fast as they have appeared. Regardless, they are still the cheapest way to get online. They come with no CD/DVD Drive and a small screen but do everything else a computer or Smart-phone can. Want to use Twitter, it can do it. Facebook, it can do it. Video chat, a N can do it. Most Netbooks start at $250. Go here for more: http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=772&name=Netbooks
Best of all, most Netbooks do not need a data plan so you wont get hurt on the backend. Keep in mind access to wifi is highly recommended…
